Commended by Jesus: 

New Testament Examples of Faith

The Woman Who Washed Jesus' Feet

• Luke 7:36-50 - This woman was a well known sinner.  Jesus forgave her and she washed Jesus' feet out of love for him.  She was honoring him and showing respect and love for him.  Other's asked how can you let this sinful woman touch you.  Jesus said that because she was forgiven much she loved much.  Jesus said her faith had saved her.  She stepped out in faith.  Jesus said go in peace.

A Woman with a Hemorrhage

• Luke 8:43-40 (Matt. 9:20-22; Mark 5:25-34) - Jesus knows that the power has left him and he tells this woman that her faith has saved her. 

A Leper

• Luke 17:11-19 - There are ten sick people who ask Jesus for a blessing. Only one comes back and gives glory to God.  Jesus says his faith made him well.

A Blind Man

• Luke 18:35-43 - This man cried for Jesus

In each of these cases these people believed Jesus could help them.  Jesus said their faith made them well.

A Roman Centurion

• Luke 7:1-10 (Matt. 8:5-13) -This man told Jesus that he believed that if Jesus gave the word the centurion's slave would be healed.  Jesus says that this man had faith more than many Jews.

The Canaanite Woman

• Matt. 15:21-28 -Jesus says this woman's faith was great.

Sometimes these disciples showed such small faith in contrast to those who were not close to him.  What would Jesus say to you?

God Helps Us to Believe

• Mark 9:14-26 - I do believe, help my unbelief.  Come before God with humility
• Luke 17:3-6 (13:18-19) -  Increase our faith.  With God's help we can increase our faith.
