A Powerful Prayer
Acts 4:1-31

Preaching Christ’s Name – Acts 4:1-12 – Jesus is the name by which we are saved. This preaching disturbed the Jewish leaders. Some of them did not believe in the resurrection. The preaching about the good news is the heart of the church. The sacrifice and resurrection are the hope of Christians.
Matthew 10:32-33 – Jesus wants his name to be preached. He will proclaim our name before God because of our faith. We want to speak of him to others.
Revelation 2:13 – These Christians continued to speak about the good news even as they were persecuted.

Opposing Christ’s Name – Acts 4:13-22 – The leaders were astonished because these were ordinary men who performed this miracle. Peter and John said we cannot stop preaching about Jesus. This miracle was done by God’s power in Jesus name. This demonstrates that God’s will made the church go forward despite opposition. God makes the church move forward today. God’s spirit fills us today to help us say what we need to say.
Luke 21:12-19 – Jesus told them that they would be persecuted but he said he would give them words to help them.
John 15:18-21 – Jesus says people would hate them for their beliefs
2 Timothy 3:12 – anyone who wants to live a Godly life will be persecuted
if opposition increases we still have the spirit to help us.

Praising Christ’s Name – Acts 23-31 – These people turned to God in prayer to give them the strength to continue to preach the word. We should pray that we can continue to have a strong faith when troubles come.
Acts 7:59 – Stephen prays when troubles came to him
Acts 22:16 – Call on God’s name and submit to Him.
