We make lots of choices in life.  As we choose, so does God.

Chosen out of the World

  • John 15:18-19 – God sets us apart from the world.  The world doesn’t like us because we are different from the world.
  • Phil. 3:20 – We are citizens of heaven.
  • 1 Peter 1:1-2 – Christians are chosen people who live like aliens.  Christians are citizens of heaven, so we are not at home in this world.
  • 1 Peter 2:11 – If you belong to God you are no longer living the lifestyle of this world.

Chosen by God’s Grace

  • Deut. 7:6-11 – God delivered the Israelites because he loved them not because of what they did.
  • Romans 9:6-16 – God’s mercy saves us
  • Romans 11:5-6 – We are not saved by our own efforts, we are saved by God’s grace.
  • Eph. 1:3-6 – God has freely given us his grace.
  • 2 Tim. 1:8-9 – Our works will not save us.  God’s grace will not save us from the consequences of our sins, but his grace does make us chosen.

Chosen for God’s Purposes

  • 1 John 3:1 – We are called children of God
  • 1 Peter 2:9-10 -You are a chosen race and you receive blessings and mercy that you can share with others.
  • Col. 3:12-14 – Recognize your new identity.  Love and forgive others.
  • Heb. 13:5-6 -The Lord is my helper.
