Being a good listener is important. It is difficult to be a good listener if you are always talking. James said that we need to be hearers of the word.
Jesus says that anyone who has ears let him hear.
- Being Changed
Matt. 13 vs. 9-12
We are always changing physically. We are always changing spiritually as well.
How we respond to the word determines how we will change.
A healthy spiritual being will grow towards God.
2 Peter 3:17-18
Take in the word in order to grow.
Matt. 13 vs. 13-15
We can have ears and eyes that don’t hear or see. Our response to God’s word reveals what is in our heart.
We can harden our hearts so that we can’t hear God. Just like our physical heart must be pliable and supple to work so our spiritual heart has to be soft to work.
Jesus was the word of God so how we react to Jesus, shows our response to the word.
These words were spoken to religious leaders. We need to always make a place for The Word in heart.
2 Thess. 2:8
We need a love of the truth to stay on the path towards God.
We need to keep our spiritually attuned to The Word.
Acts 16:14, Acts 17:11-12
Lydia was listening and God opened her heart to respond. She was ready for God’s plan for her.
- Being Blessed
Matt. 13 vs.16-17
Appreciate the time in which you live. Recognize the blessings we have available.
God has given an abundance of peace and truth in his word.
When you choose to take in the word, no one can take it away.
We need to put our treasurers with God.
