Since 9/11 Muslims have been in the news on a daily basis. The subject of reaching out to Muslims is still interesting today.
The word Islam means submitting to the will of Allah. Mohammed supposedly received his revelations from the angel Gabriel. There are some similarities between Muslims and Christians. Christians must have a response to those that are lost.
Matt. 28:19, Mark 15:16
Muslims can be reached with the gospel. 1/5th of the world’s population is Muslim. Only 2% of missionary work is done in Muslim countries. How can we reach out?
1. Overcome Fear and Anger
1John 4:18 Perfect love casts out fear.
2. Overcome Stereotypes
We have negative feelings about Muslims as do they of us.
We need to make evangelism a focus in our lives. We need to be ready to reach out as friends. We need to be ready to share our faith. Phil. 4:13 Christ is with us in our evangelism. Muslims are curious about other religions. So they are open to talk to witnesses. Matt. 11:28-30 Christians can offer unconditional love. 1 John 2:9-11
If we hate, we are in the darkness. When we love, we are looking for the light.
Some Muslims may be looking for freedom. John 8:36
People are looking for acceptance from God. We have the key in Jesus Christ.
You may say this is really a bad time because of the world conditions. Many people are disillusioned with Islam. This is a good time to reach out to people and give them the good news about Jesus.
