When we use the word cover, we mean that when someone who is in a vulnerable situation, the situation is taken care of by someone else.
God forgives our sin. When we recognize our sin, and bring it to God, he will forgive the sin. We can trust God.
God gave his son Jesus Christ to cover our sins. We need to be willing to forgive others as he has forgiven us.
God calls us to be like him in forgiving others. We should imitate God. God’s example is perfect and good. We receive grace from God and should extend that attitude to those around us.
- Being Peacemakers
Hatred stirs up trouble. Love seeks to keep the sin from causing trouble. Love covers all transgressions and seeks reconciliation between people. We should be peace seed sowers. Matt. 5:9, James 3:18
- Showing Love
Love covers many sins. We need to forgive others and not continue to bring up sins from the past. We need to take care of a problem with the people involved and then not gossip about the sin with others. When someone has repented there is no need to continue to bring up the sin.
1Cor. 13:4-7, Prov. 17:9
- Helping to Overcome
James 5:19-20, 2Thess. 3:14-15
We don’t ignore the sin. When we talk about covering sin, we are not talking about covering up sin. We need t deal with the problem so we can move forward.
We want to work out differences, reconcile and then move forward. We want to truly forgive the sin and help them move forward. Proverbs 19:11
