“Morning by morning, O Lord, you hear my voice”
“But encourage each other every day. Do this while it is ‘today.’ Help each other so that none of you will become hardened because of sin and its tricks” (Hebrews 3:13, NCV).
How can you encourage someone today? That seems like a simple task, really. It could be as simple as an encouraging phone call, visit or a card. It could be easy as taking time to open a door for someone or smiling at someone on the street or saying good morning in the workplace or at school. Encouragement can take many forms. Another great way to encourage others is to listen and respond to what they are saying. Try encouraging someone today.
How can you encourage someone today to do good works in Jesus’ name? Leading by example is a great way to show others how to encourage and to glorify God. Using your time to go out of your way to do something for someone else that you wouldn’t otherwise have done shows the world that your belief is in God. God enables you to do things that your human nature doesn’t want to do. When you get up early on a cold Sunday morning and get to the church building early to shovel snow, that’s an illustration of encouraging and leading by example. In this example the church gets a cleared walkway and you get a sense of accomplishment, thanks from others, and a great feeling all day.
Encouragement is definitely a two-way street. Try it today and see for yourself!
