These were Christians who were going through tough times. Their faith was being put to the test. Some had been imprisoned, some of their property was seized, and they were at the point where they had to decide if they were remaining firm. Our tests today are different. We are free and prosperous, so our challenges are different.
In verse 39 the writer says that we aren’t going to give up our faith no matter what. We should make that choice today. Heb. 11 is full of examples of faith.
Remember Jesus, the ultimate example of faith. We should keep him in the forefront.
We need to let go of the things that hold us back. Be serious about giving up on the things that entangle you and keep you from pressing forward on the path God has set for you.
God is involved in our lives to help us make the choices we need to make to live for Him. God wants us to be better people and he disciplines us towards that end. Challenges of life are intended to help make us better people, more like He wants us to be.
May we respond to God if we are being disciplined.
God wants you to be living the Christian life and to be strong for the Lord, so we need to pursue the peace and put away the root of bitterness. Deut. 29:18
Do we have the positive Spirit we should have?
Say yes when God calls you.
Jesus tells us that with God all things are possible.
