This week marks a huge tragedy in our country’s history. As our nation struggles with the aftermath of hurricane Katrina, we are humbled before the mighty hand of God. The greatest destruction in New Orleans came from the failure of the levees. The homes there were lower than the water.
On a spiritual level, every one of us live in danger because we live in a world of sin.
- God’s Strength
Psalm 46:1-11, Psalm 91:1-16
God will protect us in the world of sin. We choose to have God in our lives.
Eph. 3:14-21, Eph. 6:10, Phil. 4:13
Our faith allows us to have God dwelling in us.
- The Threat We Face
As in New Orleans, the water (the threat of sin) is always there.
How did Satan get in to Judas?
Jesus prayed for his followers that they would be protected from evil.
Even those who are in the church need to keep alert for evil.
Satan is always looking for an opening. God will protect those who are faithful to him.
- Need for Prayer
When Jesus wanted to have strength to endure, he prayed. We need levees in our lives against evil that we can rely on, not physical releivers like drugs, alcohol, etc. Eph. 6:18 Pray is one of the levees in our lives that requires maintenance. Col. 4:2
We need to be ready.
- Need for Watchfulness
We need to be constant in vigilance against evil. We are responsible for our own salvation.
2John 8, Matt. 24:42-44
Be ready with a strong faith and God in your life.
In Jesus our broken lives can and will be fixed.
