Jesus Christ, Our Lifeboat
It was a hundred years ago today that the great ship Titanic sank after hitting an ice berg. This disaster can provide us lessons about our spiritual lives today.
Warnings of Destruction
Matt. 24:1-14. – Jesus describes what is coming for his believers. These people were shocked by what Jesus is saying about the destruction of the great temple of Jerusalem. Many people thought that this temple could not be destroyed.
1 Corinthians 7:29-31- This world is always passing away.
2 Peter 3:9-12 – The day of the Lord will come unexpectedly and all physical things will be destroyed.
1 John 2:17 – The world will pass away
The world refers to the corrupt spiritual world. This world will be removed from God’ creation and a new heaven and earth will be restored in harmony with God.
A Way to Escape
Galatians 1:3-5 – Jesus is our way of escape to the new spiritual world where our lives will be eternal…
Galatians 6:14 – We are separated from the world that is corrupt by Jesus sacrifice on the cross. We have no part in the corruption of the world. Jesus is the Savior. Jesus saves! Jesus is the lifeboat for our eternal life.
John 17:9-19 – The followers of Jesus are not of this world. He saves them from sin and is the way to eternal life. Spiritually Jesus’ followers are set apart from the world. No matter what happens people who trust in God are at peace spiritually because we have a hope through Jesus Christ!
God’s Call to Salvation
Acts 2:40. – Save yourself from the corruption of the world. There are places for all in the lifeboat of Jesus Christ. Give the message to all!
Luke 12:13-21- Be rich towards God. Put your treasure in heaven.
