“Morning by morning, O Lord, you hear my voice”
Consider the Lilies of the Field
(Please read Mathew 6:28-30)
How many times have you felt out of sync with the world? Out of step with life? Feeling this way can leave you anxious and with feelings of depression. A good way to get yourself back “in sync” is to do as Jesus said in Luke 12:27-31: “Consider the lilies of the field.”
There are a lot of things to discover about life from considering the lilies. The main jobs of a lily are to take root, grow, and bloom. Once that happens we see a beautiful plant with a stunningly beautiful blossom. We, like the lily, are creations of God. If we can realize that, as God’s creations all we need to do is take root, grow, and bloom.
God provides us the Word for us to root in and to grow in. Our spirits can grow and be nourished by the Word. Our good deeds become the beautiful blossoms in our lives that produce a fragrant aroma to those around us and to God. When we grow as God has planned for us to, wherever we go we bring the beautiful aroma of God’s presence to the world. Considering the lilies of the field reminds us that our spirits can bloom and grow as we trust God more and more. Once we focus on God and his purpose for us, our anxieties fade and we can put our lives back ”in step” and “in sync” with his purpose for us.
