“Morning by morning, O Lord, you hear my voice”
Love, So Great
(Please read 1 Corinthians 13)
Today much will be said about love and lovers. Husbands and wives, and sweethearts, will exchange gifts and pledges of love. Let us hope that the pledges will be honored in the years ahead, through good times and bad. True love can indeed see us through any and all situations that might threaten a marriage, because “Love never fails.”
Besides saving marriages, love can save a friendship. And it can set the tone of a church congregation. Indeed, it can cause a church to grow. We heard once about a lady who, although she had very little religion in her background, began attending a church in her city. After some time had passed, she became a Christian, and she later moved away. When she left, she wrote a warm letter to the congregation, expressing her love and good wishes. And, recalling how the people in that church had treated her and how she had there found the Lord, she wrote gratefully, “You loved me into the kingdom.”
We can do that too. This very day we may have opportunities to let the love of Christ shine through to people who haven’t seen it before. Think about that as you sing, “They’ll Know We Are Christians” by our love. Wouldn’t you like to pray now, thanking God for the love heaven has shown and asking for help in showing love to others?
