“Morning by morning, O Lord, you hear my voice”
The Eyes of the Lord
(Please read Hebrews 4:12-13)
A lot of information about ordinary citizens is available in electronic form these days, so much that many people worry that it may be accessible by identity thieves — or even misused by the government. The idea that “big brother” is watching us doesn’t seem quite as far-fetched as it once did.
But when it comes to dreading disclosure of private activities, Christians enjoy an advantage over the world at large because we are used to the idea that our God sees everything we do and knows our very thoughts, and we can’t conceive of deity without that power. We believe the Bible’s declaration, “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, watching the evil and the good” (Proverbs 15:3). We accept the Lord’s watchfulness and bask in the knowledge that, watching us, he knows when we need his help.
With that knowledge, let’s be more confident as we go about our activities today. Sing “His Eye is on the Sparrow”; it’s bound to give you a boost that will help all day. And wouldn’t you like to pray now, thanking the all-seeing Father for watching and caring for you?
