“Morning by morning, O Lord, you hear my voice”
The Greatest Gift
(Please read John 3:16)
This magnificent passage is filled with greatness. It begins with God, the greatest Being. The world, the human family, and all good things begin with God. We cannot stretch our minds around his greatness, and we cannot conceive of anything greater.
And God “so loved,” showing the greatest attribute, the greatest way of life, the No. 1 thing in life. The object of his love was all-encompassing – the whole world, all people.
This great company of people receive the greatest gift, God’s one and only Son. Here is a gift so wonderful that we can’t begin to comprehend the enormity of it. Even the inspired apostle Paul could not describe it. He exulted, “Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!” (2 Corinthians 9:15).
With these things in mind, how can we keep from accepting Christ and thus receiving the greatest promise, eternal life?
You and I may not understand the entire Bible, but we can understand this verse. It means God loves us and wants us and will save us. When you face the struggles which are part of the human condition, remember that lovely truth. The hope it brings will surely help bring you through every crisis.
