God’s Gift of Hope

Matthew 28; 1 Corinthians 15:1-28

As we go through life there are days when significant things happen to us.  We tend to mark those days that have made pivotal changes.  The resurrection of Jesus is one of those days in our spiritual life.

  • Jesus’ Resurrection An Historical Event- 1 Corinthians 15:1-11-           Paul emphasizes that this really happened.  Eyewitnesses saw this.  The gospel accounts are written with details and vividness.  Paul lists people who were reliable who saw Jesus.
  • Resurrection An Essential Core of the Christian Message -1 Corinthians 15:12-19- Paul says that if Jesus was not raised we are still in our sins.  The gospel is in vain without the resurrection of Christ.
  • In Between the Resurrections -1 Corinthians 15:20-28- Time goes into eternity.  The covenant established in the Old Testament was fulfilled in the resurrection of Jesus. When Jesus returns there will be a second resurrection of God’s people.  The time of this resurrection is known only to God.
  • Are we ready for this resurrection?
